RESOURCES
Module for Graduate Education
One of the goals of HELP was to provide resources to support the inclusion of health in the work of Student Affairs - not just through the administrative and organizational connection of campus health and counseling centers to Student Affairs divisions, but through a robust integration of health as a priority and focus in the strategies, planning, programs, and intended learning outcomes of Student Affairs.
To achieve this goal, HELP offered professional development activities as described elsewhere in this Web site and commissioned the creation of a module to be used in the academic graduate programs that educate student affairs professionals.
This module is intended as a resource for graduate faculty to use in courses, out-of-classroom learning assignments, and their own teaching. It provides:
- A conceptual framework for the inclusion of health in the work of Student Affairs,
- An argument for a more holistic approach to health on campus,
- An outline of the campus ecology model,
- A review of the key health issues and concerns faced by students in college,
- A description of the health effects of the college environment, and
- Approaches to building healthy campus communities.
